Shoreline Tool Library Expands Offerings and Hours in 2025!
Seattle REconomy’s Shoreline Tool Library is stepping into the new year with exciting changes and expanded services! Known for its extensive collection of borrowable tools—ranging from pressure washers and power tools to catering and event equipment—the Shoreline Tool Library is growing into a multi-faceted community hub.
In addition to tools, the library boasts a Reused Materials Store, which helps divert materials from landfills, reduce the consumption of new products, and offer salvaged goods at unbeatable prices. Now, with a fresh focus on the circular economy, the Shoreline Tool Library is broadening the range of items it accepts and redistributes.
New Partnerships and Expanded Offerings
Starting January 14, 2025, the Shoreline Tool Library is partnering with:
Furniture Repair Bank
KidVantage
Seattle ReCreative
These collaborations will allow the library to accept small furniture, children’s goods, art supplies, and other select items. You can find a detailed, curated list of accepted items on the Seattle REconomy Redistribution Partners webpage.
More Hours, More Accessibility
Thanks to a generous grant from King County Solid Waste’s RE+ program, the Shoreline Tool Library will significantly expand its hours. Beginning January 2, 2025, the library will be open for 30 hours per week, a significant increase from its previous 12-hour schedule. The new hours are:
Monday – Friday: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The extended hours aim to make the library’s services more accessible to the community and provide a larger donation window to support its new redistribution partners.
Donation Details
The Shoreline Tool Library is now a drop-off location for donations that support the Furniture Repair Bank, KidVantage, and Seattle ReCreative. While they will only accept a limited range of items, you can ensure your donation is eligible by filling out their Materials Donation Form. Include details and photos of your items, and they’ll confirm whether they can accept them.
Although drop-offs are strongly encouraged, the library can coordinate pick-ups for a fee—perfect for larger donations or those with limited transportation options. And don’t forget, all accepted donations are eligible for a tax refund with their Tax Receipt form.
Volunteers Needed!
With expanded hours and new initiatives, the library is on the lookout for passionate volunteers to help run its operations. Volunteering is a fantastic way to give back to the community while supporting sustainability. If you’re interested, fill out their volunteers form and join the team!
The Shoreline Tool Library is more than a tool library—it’s a cornerstone of Seattle REconomy’s vision for a sustainable future. By reducing waste, promoting reuse, and fostering partnerships, this growing community resource is making a big impact. Stop by during the new hours starting January 2 or check out their website to learn how you can get involved!
Let’s build a stronger, more sustainable Shoreline together!
