Spotlight on MoonShine Wellness: Supporting Healthcare Heroes in Shoreline
We recently had the pleasure of chatting with the founder of MoonShine Wellness, Doris Taylor, a Shoreline-based business dedicated to empowering healthcare workers through coaching, workshops, and support groups. With a mission rooted in personal experience and a deep passion for helping others, MoonShine Wellness is creating a meaningful impact within our community. From addressing burnout to fostering connections, they are providing essential resources for those who care for us every day. Here’s what they shared about their journey, services, and love for Shoreline.
How long have you been in business?
Since January 2022.
What inspired you to start your business?
For years, I worked as a nurse and dreamed of starting a wellness coaching business, but juggling a demanding career while battling burnout made it a struggle. After leaving nursing in 2021, I realized my true passion was supporting my former colleagues—nurses and other healthcare workers—who give everything to their patients yet often lack the support they need. My mission became clear: to provide the resources and support I wish I had during my most challenging times.
What service does your business provide for our community?
I offer personal coaching, a workshop on burnout that includes continuing education credits for nurses, and a twice-monthly online support group for healthcare professionals. My goal is to support healthcare workers—whether they’re burned out or not—with tools, resources, and community connection.
What do you love most about Shoreline?
I grew up in a small town in Alaska, and I value Shoreline’s small-town community feel. It reminds me of home.
Why is your business based in Shoreline?
I’ve lived here for over 15 years and love being part of this community.
What has been your proudest moment in business so far?
Developing a workshop on burnout that reframes common misconceptions and provides practical tools for breaking the cycle. I’m also proud of navigating the complex process of offering continuing education credits for the workshop.
How does your business support or give back to the local community?
I prioritize buying local and supporting other small businesses whenever possible. It’s a way to sustain and grow our vibrant Shoreline business community.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business in Shoreline?
Join the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce. It’s a great way to learn, grow, and connect with other local business owners.
What future plans or goals do you have for your business?
I want to expand my connection within the nursing community by speaking at conferences and continuing to grow the reach of my workshops and support groups.
What’s your next upcoming event?
I host an online workshop every month with varying days and times to accommodate busy healthcare professionals.
