Capturing Confidence: Spotlight on Lara Grauer Photography

We love celebrating the vibrant local businesses that make our community special, and we’re thrilled to feature Lara Grauer Photography—a studio devoted to capturing the unique beauty in everyone. With a heartfelt approach and a stunning new studio, Lara Grauer Photography goes beyond creating portraits, offering an experience that leaves clients feeling valued, inspired, and confident.

How long have you been in business?
I started the business in the Chicago area in 2006. I re-started in Seattle when I moved here in 2007. We took the business full-time in 2016.

What inspired you to start your business?
It was more of an unfolding than an inspiration. I have always loved exploring characters, and I started my adulthood as an actor for that very reason. Life's adventure ultimately led me to a career in photography, and every day I feel more and more inspired by the people whose portraits I create. There is beauty in everyone. I love showing people how awesome they are.

What service does your business provide for our community?
Our portrait studio helps people build confidence and strengthen connections with the people they care about.

What do you love the most about Shoreline?
I love the passionate people! Everyone in Shoreline cares about what happens in Shoreline. There is so much pride and engagement here.

What has been your proudest moment in business so far?
Most recently, I've opened a brand new portrait studio - just 2 blocks south of the Shoreline/Seattle border. It's warm and inviting, and it creates an atmosphere that allows people to be relaxed and inspired. I've dreamed of having a dedicated studio for many years - it's exciting to finally have that dream become a reality.

How do you approach customer service, and what sets you apart?
We're committed to guiding our clients through every step of the process in order to minimize the stress that's involved in the making of a portrait. We start with a planning & design appointment that sets the stage for everything else. At that appointment, we'll go through your closet and help you choose the best outfits if that's the help you need. We'll check out the walls in your home so we know where your finished portraits are most likely to hang. This planning phase means we can design the portraits to suit your space and your taste. Being prepared means your portrait session will go smoothly, your family will be able to enjoy themselves without uncertainty, and you'll end up with images that you love - rather than whatever images you happen to get. When it's time to select your final portraits, we'll show you images on your wall, to scale, in our portrait design software so you can make your purchase with confidence.

How does your business support or give back to the local community?
We love to support lots of causes. Youth empowerment is really dear to our hearts, so we jump on those opportunities whenever we can. We also love to sponsor and donate to charity auctions, and collect items for local food and shelter organizations. This Valentine's Day, we will be supporting Seattle Area Feline Rescue with a fun "For the Love of Cats" portrait project!

What’s your next upcoming event?
We are having a Grand Opening celebration and Ribbon Cutting for our new studio on January 16th, 5:00–6:30 PM. Check out the Shoreline Chamber calendar for more information.
