Here in Innis Arden, residents are surrounded by the beauty of nature – and only minutes from city conveniences. The community is fortunate to have great neighbors who help everyone feel right at home. Innis Arden was put on the market in October 1940. The Boeing Company bought the land from the Puget Mill Company (Pope and Talbot) after it had been logged. William and Bertha Boeing subdivided the land, cleared it, laid out streets, and plotted the first addition. They named it Innis Arden after Mrs. Boeing's girlhood home in Connecticut. Hugh Russell, the sales agent, marketed this "restricted community" with extraordinary views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The highest-priced lots in 1940 were $1,750, and some were as low as $1,000. The first homes, built by Mr. Allard and the Perrfield Sisters, were near the entrance at Innis Arden Drive and Richmond Beach Road.
